Listing an item is always free on Mercari. Fees are charged when an item sells or when a service is used. The following charts explain fees on Mercari.
Service Fee
We work hard to make our marketplace a vibrant and secure shopping experience, learn more. Starting March 27, 2024, when you make a purchase, a service fee will be charged. The amount of the fee will be displayed as part of the final price of your item on the checkout page. This fee is charged to the buyer and may not be refunded, depending on the reason for a return.
Seller Fees
Effective March 27, 2024 at 8:30 AM ET, the selling fee for new listings will be 0%
Note: Listings created before 8:30 AM ET on March 27, 2024 will be subject to a selling fee of 10% of the item price when a sale is completed unless the listing has been updated on or after March 27, 2024.
Transaction and Payment Fees
Mercari incurs fees related to payment processing and balance withdraws out of our system by our financial services partners. Some of these service fees are charged to our users.
Payment Processing: Effective March 27, 2024 at 8:30 AM ET, Mercari will charge buyers a payment processing fee at the time of purchase.
2.9% + $0.50 fee
A Payment Processing Fee of 2.9% plus $0.50 per sale is charged to the seller based on the completed sale plus shipping price of the item unless it has been updated after March 27, 2024. The payment processing fee is only charged on completed transactions. This fee is not applied to declined or expired offers or canceled orders.

A Payment Processing Fee of $0.50 plus 2.9% of the transaction price (which includes the item price, shipping, service fee and sales tax) will be charged to the buyer. This fee may not be refunded for returned or canceled orders.
Balance Withdrawals: There are two ways to cash out your earnings from your Mercari balance offered by Mercari.
Direct Deposit: Effective March 27, 2024 at 8:30 AM ET, there is a $2 non-refundable fee per cash-out.
Once you’ve added your checking account and have a balance, you can request a cash-out request to your bank using direct deposit. This transaction is typically processed within 5 business days depending on your bank’s processing times. There is $2 non-refundable fee for each completed direct deposit request.
Instant Pay: Instant Pay is the fastest way to get paid when you need that extra cash. To do this, go to your balance, tap “Instant Pay,” complete your ID validation (if you haven’t already), and add a debit card. You can use Instant Pay for up to $600 per month, once per day on eligible debit cards. There is a $3 flat fee per cash-out. In some cases, depending on your bank’s processing time, it can take up to 30 minutes to see the balance in your bank account.
Shipping and Delivery Fees on Mercari
We offer low, fixed rates with USPS, FedEx, and UPS for packages weighing up to 50 lbs – with a maximum length of 34”. These rates offer an average of 39% savings compared to the retail pricing of each carrier; all fees and rates are based on a comparison completed December 8, 2023.

The package size must be less than 34" (longest side) x 20" (second longest side). The package weight must be less than or equal to the weight specified on the label (H x W x L / 139 shipping divisor) and must be under 50 pounds. If your package weighs more than 50 pounds (or exceeds the 34” size limit), you’ll need to ship it on your own. If a return is approved for an item over 50 pounds or a package that exceeds the size limit, sellers are responsible for providing a shipping label to receive the item back. We do not support national shipping for furniture or major appliances.
Please note that Mercari’s recommendations for prepaid labels when listing an item does not factor in the dimensional weight. If the app recommends a shipping label of 50 pounds but the package for an approved return exceeds the weight or size limit, sellers will still be responsible for providing a return label.
New shipping rates for Mercari prepaid labels up to 50 lbs are effective January 18, 2024. The new rates will apply to new listings and they will apply if you update shipping on existing listings – for both buyer and seller-paid labels. Effective January 18, 2024, existing listings posted before January 18, 2024 with buyer-paid shipping will automatically be updated with the new shipping prices. You don’t need to take any action to update shipping on any existing listings. And, you’ll still get an average of 39%* savings for items between 0.25 lb–50 lbs compared to the retail prices of our carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx).

Media Mail
For eligible* media categories (books, movies, recorded and printed music), we offer fixed rates for USPS Media Mail. Packages must be properly marked as Media Mail and include only eligible media categories. Media Mail packages are subject to search by USPS. Sellers are responsible for overage fees and fines associated with improper use of Media Mail (prohibited contents, incorrect weight). First-Class Envelopes
Exclusively for the trading cards category, we offer fixed rates for USPS First-Class Envelopes. Envelopes must be maximum 11 ½” length and 6 ⅛” height and ¼” thick (non-compressed). Please see our First-Class Envelope Guide for shipping requirements.
Prices in bold represent USPS First-Class Envelope service rates effective 1/18/2024 and include Shipping Protection up to $20.
Economy Shipping
Prices in bold represent economy service rate examples effective 1/18/24 and include Shipping Protection up to $200. Note: If a seller chooses to ship on their own they are responsible for all costs associated with the shipping process.
Other Shipping Fees
If you ship a package that exceeds the size and weight limits on the label, you may have to pay overage fees. You’re responsible for proper packaging meaning that you’ll need to cover additional fees for using improper packaging (i.e. Priority Express or Flat Rate boxes with Mercari prepaid labels or applying USPS Ground Advantage (formerly First-Class) (0-15.9 oz) or FedEx labels on USPS Priority Mail boxes). Sellers are responsible for overage fees and fines associated with improper use of Media Mail (prohibited contents, incorrect weight).- In these situations, Mercari is not responsible for returning the item back to the Seller - 100% of total overage costs paid by seller

Local Delivery
Delivery is $15.99 for items smaller than a microwave (22”H x 30”W x 25”D) and less than 50 lbs. For items larger than a microwave or more than 50 lbs, furniture delivery is available in select cities for $199 for up to 3 items. Furniture items must fit in the bed of a pickup truck (72”L x 48” W) and item(s) may not exceed a maximum of 300 lbs combined. A partner (Uber® or Dolly®) is selected for you and the final delivery fee is communicated to the buyer at the time of purchase. Cancelation Fees on Mercari
Cancelations should only occur if the seller cannot fulfill an order. If a seller has frequent cancelations, Mercari may charge a cancelation fee of 5% of the item price (maximum of $25) to cover the cost of any transaction fees, operational and/or shipping label costs we incur. You will receive warnings if you reach this limit before a fee is charged. This fee will be subtracted from your balance and/or charged to the card on file within 30 days after you receive a notification from us.
Note: If you cancel repeatedly, listings may be removed and your account may be limited.
Legal Fees on Mercari
Mercari releases information about our customers only when presented with an official legal request, as described in our Information for Law Enforcement and other Government Agencies Policy. Mercari reserves the right to charge fees for any processing of legal documents.
Other Service Fees on Mercari
Mercari provides access to additional services for buyers or sellers on our platform. The purchase of additional products or services facilitated by Mercari or offered outside of Mercari will be communicated at the time of the Service and these fees may vary. Separate Mercari Terms & Conditions apply to each of these services and you may be asked to accept additional terms offered through a third party to use these services and/or handle payments and fees outside of Mercari.
