Mercari GG for buyers

What is Mercari GG?

Mercari GG is a marketplace where you can buy and sell digital items, skins and loot boxes from some of the most popular games that permit trading of items on marketplaces. Mercari GG is currently in beta testing. Once you verify your email address, you will be able to access Mercari GG to list, browse, and buy digital items for supported games.

Note: Mercari GG is not currently available in the Mercari app.


How does it work?

After making your first purchase on Mercari GG you will need to provide an Identified Gaming Trade URL (“Trade URL”).

  • Your Trade URL will be sent to the seller and they will use the link to initiate a trade on the applicable game platform. To verify the transaction and to keep you and the seller safe, it's required that that you use the trade link you provided to Mercari. If you need to update it you can do so in the order status page.
  • Next, the seller will send you a trade request using the Trade URL you provided. Make sure to verify the item is correct. Then accept the trade offer and click on “Received” on your order status page.
  • Once you have clicked on “Received,” be sure to leave your seller a rating. Once the seller leaves a rating the transaction will be complete.
  • Note: Trade completion can take up to 15 days if you don't use the Mobile Steam Authenticator.


    Frequently asked questions


    Can I return a digital purchase?

    Because availability of items for sale are verified directly from the identified gaming platform, and users are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence about the condition of “digital goods”, Mercari will not facilitate returns for items transacted in the Mercari GG marketplace. Before accepting a trade from your seller be sure to manually verify that the item matches the description of the item that you purchased.

    What happens if the seller never delivers the item?

    If the seller has not confirmed the item has been sent within 72 hours of providing your Trade URL, you can cancel the transaction from the order status page. If the seller has confirmed the item has been sent, but you have not received it, click on “Did not receive” from your order status page. Our support team will review the transaction in order to resolve the issue.

    What if the seller sends the wrong item?

    Before “accepting” a trade in the game platform, please be sure to verify that the correct item is being sent. If you believe that you have received an incorrect item please contact our support team.

    What if I made an error in providing the Trade URL?

    If your seller reports receiving an incorrect Trade URL, you will be notified on your order status page. Once you receive the communication, please be sure to update your Trade URL. We will then let the seller know that you’ve made a change to the Trade URL.

    Are Digital Goods Subject to State Sales Tax?

    Depending on the laws in place in your billing state, sale of any digital goods may be subject to sales tax. We are required to comply with this requirement as a marketplace. Any applicable sales taxes will be displayed as a separate line item amount and added to your total at Checkout.
