Description
Vintage, third American edition from 1942, this copy of The Birds of America by John James Audubon (originally published in England 1827-30) is filled with 435 full-color, gorgeous bird plates that Audubon painted during his time in America. Sadly, some of these birds are now extinct. The book measures 12” x 9.25” x 2.25” and is a weighty tome! It is cloth bound (reddish-brown) with no dust jacket. The writing on the spine is rubbed almost away, but the binding is good. There is water damage to the cover, the front and back inside leafs are age/water spotted, and the edges of pages are yellowed from age. (Being transparent here!) The interior plates themselves are beyond lovely and of good quality, excellent color and detail. There are no torn pages or writings on any pages. A great addition to a bird-lover’s library!
