Vintage First Edition Book The Brave Little Toaster ~ by Thomas Disch

This is a vintage hardcover 1970 illustrated children's novel called The Mysterious Bender Bones. The book was written by Susan Meyers and the pictures and illustrations were by Ib Ohlsson. The story is in a chapter novel format with over 110 pages. The chapters consist of titles like worms for sale, the stranger, Bender Island, buried treasure and more. Every so often there are inked illustrations to depict what's happening in the story. All the pages of the book are intact. The first four pages are worn away on the bottom right corner and a little bit around the edges. But after those pages they're all intact. The outside edges of the pages are discolored with age spots. The outside cover is slightly worn around the corners.

This is a vintage 1956 hardcover illustrated children's story book called The Family Treasury of Children's Stories: Book 2. It is a collection of different classic children's stories, fables and fairy tales. The book was edited by Pauline Rush Evans and throughout the book are pictures and illustrations by Donald Sibley. The book contains short stories mainly in text and occasionally on the page will be an illustrated drawing to show a piece of the story. It contains stories like the emperor's new clothes, sleeping beauty, the ferry who didn't believe in children, Cinderella and many more. There are over 300 pages total. All the pages of the book are intact. On one or two pages a child has scribbled purple crayon. There is also purple crayon scribbled on the inside cover and the back cover. The outside of the book is slightly worn around the edges and corners.

Inside the book are the stories Lassie Come Home, The Story of William Tell, Rumpelstiltskin, Theodore Roosevelt and more. The book is in good condition and all the pages are intact. Along with the stories, each page has illustrations to go along with it that range from full color to one tone color and ink. The outside cover has an illustration of Lassie on the dust cover. The dust cover itself also has a Charlotte's Web illustration on it and is worn around the edges and corners, but still intact.

They range from full color, to inked illustrations with one color highlights. Book is in good condition and all the pages are intact.  The outside dust cover is worn around the edges and the front of it has been ripped at the bottom, but taped to keep it in place.

There is a presentation label on the front endpaper and an ink inscription (see photos) but otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked.   Beautifully illustrated! A nice collectible book.
