Overview: Up for sale is a beautiful etching of Dowell Hall (at Harvard University) by listed Florida/Maryland artist, Don Swann (1889-1954). The etching is pencil-signed at lower right and numbered 46/250 at lower left. On verso, there is a tag indicating the title and artist, and affirming that the etching plate was destroyed after 250 copies of the etching were printed. Swann's etchings are highly sought-after and this is a fantastic example of his work.

Condition: Etching is in very good condition. Moderate toning. Matting has some minor corner wear.

Measurements: Print measures approximately 10.125 inches high by 8.5 inches wide. Matting measures 14 inches high x 11 inches wide.

Larry Shineman’s paintings draw upon his childhood in Nebraska, his experiences in New Mexico, his nearly 50 years in Ohio, and his mentors and teachers. Professor emeritus at The Ohio State University, his paintings and drawings are both mysterious and calming, drawing you into their compositions.
Abstract art has a basis in reality, something that exists and is being altered or abstracted by the artist. Shineman’s highly refined abstract compositions evoke hazy atmospheric spaces occupied by representational objects. His paintings intentionally straddle the line between abstraction and representation.
