How long does it take to get a refund?

Refunds will be processed within 14 calendar days after your return has been delivered to the seller.

The refund is processed to the original form of payment, it typically arrives 5-10 business days after the refund has been processed; however, in rare cases it can take up to 30 days from some financial institutions.

If your order was canceled within 24 hours of purchase

When a transaction is canceled within 24 hours of its purchase the payment authorization is voided. The pending charge will be removed from your online statement typically within 5 business days.

If you paid with Zip

Zip returns follow Mercari’s standard cancellations and returns process, and may include applicable Zip Finance Charges, shipping, and taxes. As soon as the refund is processed by Mercari, Zip will be notified of the refund. Once notified, Zip will refund the payments made to date, and the amount will be deposited into your Zip online account. Have more questions about Zip returns? Go to Login.

If an order is canceled and a refund will be issued, customers are only refunded the amount they have paid to date via their installments. Zip will then cancel all future payments. Refunds can take 2-3 business days to process, depending on the financial institution.

Example: You make a $100 purchase including any shipping, sales tax, and Zip Finance Charges. You pay the first initial installment of $25 at checkout. Later, the order is canceled. A refund of $25 is issued, and the remaining installments (which total out to $75) will be canceled by Zip.

If your entire order is canceled or returned, the Zip Finance Charge will be refunded. If there is a partial refund or if part of an order is canceled or returned, the Zip Finance Charge will not be refunded.

What happens if an order purchased with Zip is adjusted or refunded partially?

When a partial refund is issued in cases such as sales tax adjustment, Zip will reduce the last installment amount by the amount that was refunded. If the refund amount is greater than the last installment amount, Zip will deduct the partial refund from your last and second to last installment, and so on.

Example: You make a $100 purchase including any shipping, sales tax and Zip Finance Charge. Each installment payment is $25 each. You pay the first initial installment of $25 at checkout.

Later, Mercari refunds $50 on your purchase. The refunded value will be applied first to the final installment payment, and then to the next-to-last installment, and so on, until the entire refund amount has been applied. Below is a breakdown of what the refund(s) would look like.

$25 + any applicable Zip finance fees, shipping, and taxes if applicable (depending on residing state) - PAID.

$25 - The second installment remains and is still due on the original due date.

$25 - REFUNDED or WILL NOT BE CHARGED.

$25 - REFUNDED or WILL NOT BE CHARGED.

If you paid with a Mercari balance or credits

Refunds for transactions paid with Mercari balance or credit are typically returned to your account within 24 hours. You can view your credits or balance from your profile.

If you paid with a prepaid gift card

All refunds are issued to the original form of payment, so refunds for purchases made using prepaid or gift cards will also be returned to the respective card. So be sure to hold onto your method of payment, even if it is a gift card.
