What information is used to verify my identity?

Federal law requires Mercari to obtain, verify, and record the identity of each person who opens an account or conducts certain transactions. This helps fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities.

If you are required to verify your identity, you will receive in-app notifications indicating what information to provide and where to send it.

You may be asked to provide your driver’s license, other identifying documents, or the following information:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Social Security Number

This information will only be used for identity verification purposes, and will not be sold or rented to third parties without your consent. For more information on our data practices, please see our privacy policy: https://www.mercari.com/privacy/

If you have been instructed to provide identity verification documentation, please use the submission form below.

Please note that if you do not provide the requested information, or we are unable to verify your identity, we may not be able to process transactions for you, and we may have to close your account.
