How does Offer work for buyers?

Offers are binding. If you change your mind, you can ask your seller to decline the offer. If they’ve already accepted it, you can ask them to cancel the transaction.

When a buyer makes an offer, the seller has 24 hours to accept, decline, or make a counteroffer. Once an offer or counteroffer is accepted, the buyer is immediately charged the new price.

What is the minimum offer amount?

The minimum offer amount is set at 75% of the listing price. For bundle offers, there is no minimum offer amount.

How do I make an offer?

To send an offer, just tap “Make an offer” next to “Add to cart” in the Mercari app.

How do I make a bundle offer?

To make an offer on a bundle of items from a single seller, add all the items to your cart and tap “bundle items and make offer.”

Add 2 to 10 items from the same seller to your cart.
Go to your cart and tap "Bundle items and make offer"
Select or input your bundle offer price, up to $2,000, and tap "Next"
Review and tap "Send offer"
The seller has 24 hours to accept, counter, or decline your offer.
Note: If one item in the bundle sells before you’ve received a response on your offer, you can send a revised offer – once an offer or counteroffer is accepted, you’ll immediately be charged that price.

Can I use coupons with my Offer?

Coupons can be used with most offers. Item coupons cannot be used with bundles. Check the terms and conditions for more details on what the coupon can be used for.

Please make sure your payment and address are up to date before you make an offer. If you need to cancel the offer, first ask the seller to decline the offer. If the seller already accepted the offer, you can ask them to cancel the transaction.

To use a coupon code, you can either manually enter during check out or redeem from your profile under “coupon”. Regardless of your payment method (PayPal, Credit Card, ApplePay, Zip), coupons can be applied to your purchase. For more details on how to use coupon codes, check out the Coupons & Promotions help center guide.

Why can I only make an offer on an item, not “Add to cart” and/or “Buy now?”

If a sale will cause the seller to exceed the gross sales threshold for 1099-K reporting requirements and the seller hasn’t submitted a verified W-9, the item will not be available to “Add to cart” and/or “Buy now.” In this case, the item will only have an option to make an offer. Once the seller has submitted a verified W-9, the offer and/or sale on the item can proceed as usual. If the seller does not submit their verified W-9 within the 24 hour offer window and accept the offer, the offer simply expires as usual. You can make another offer to the seller once the initial offer expires.

Note: The “Make offer” feature for individual items is available on Mercari.com and only on transactions where both the buyer and seller have the latest version of the Mercari app. Shoppers can only make “bundle offers” on the Mercari app, available for download on iOS and Android.
