What is the data access process for Mercari users?

Mercari receives certain personal information from our customers as a part of the process of buying and selling items on the platform. If you want to know what personal information Mercari has, you can request it here. The form captures information needed to verify your identity and acts as a formal request mechanism. Once the form is submitted and we’ve verified your identity, you’ll receive an email with a link to download your personal information. Sit tight, this process can take up to forty-five (45) days. To help keep your data protected, the link will expire three (3) days after the email is sent.

What information do I need to share to make a request?

We’ll need to collect your Mercari account information that’s on file so we can locate your account. This includes but is not limited to your email, shipping address and phone number.

We’ll need to verify your identity to protect your information. This helps us confirm that you’re authorized to receive the Mercari account information.

How long until I get my data?

It can take up to forty-five (45) days after verification for you to get an email with your personal data. To help protect your data, the link will expire three (3) days after the email is sent. If the link has expired, you need to make a new request by clicking here.

You can also create a request by contacting customer service in the Help Center or by emailing us-datarequest@mercari.com. Customers may make requests for their personal information two (2) times in a twelve (12) month period.

How do I access my information after I get the email?

Once you’ve submitted a request for your personal information and have received an email with a link to your data, please download the file. You can open your JSON files with any text editor, such as Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac.

What if my identity verification doesn’t work?

If you’ve requested your personal information through a request form and received an error message regarding identity verification, please contact our customer service in the Help Center or by emailing us-datarequest@mercari.com.

Why was my data request rejected?

There are a few reasons why your request might have been rejected.

  • We couldn’t verify your identity
  • The state you selected didn’t match your account
  • You requested your data more than two (2) times within twelve (12) months

  • Why can’t Mercari delete my data?

    We retain account and usage data as long as required by applicable law. We may retain personal information from your account to collect any fees owed, resolve disputes, complete investigations, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service User Agreement, or take other actions as required or permitted by law.
