What if a canceled transaction is delivered?

Under some circumstances, an order may be canceled after the seller has already shipped the item.

When this happens, the buyer is refunded immediately at the time of cancelation, but the seller may be eligible for reimbursement if the item is ultimately delivered to the buyer.

If the tracking updates to show a delivered status or the buyer has confirmed receipt of the item, Mercari will review the transaction to confirm the following;

  • The transaction was canceled either by the buyer or Mercari
  • The seller confirmed they shipped the order by tapping “confirm” on Mercari
  • The seller has not already been reimbursed through Mercari Shipping Protection for the item

If the transaction qualifies for reimbursement, the seller will be reimbursed in the amount of the sales profit. In these cases, buyers will not be re-charged for the item.

If a seller prematurely cancels the transaction or did not tap “confirm” that the order was shipped, then they are not eligible for reimbursement.
