What expenses can I report in my tax return?
While we cannot advise our sellers how to report their sales on their tax returns, we do provide a Gross Sales Report to assist you and/or your tax advisor to help with your tax reporting.
As a marketplace, we do not have the original cost of your sold items or other costs incurred to sell your item on Mercari. All other Mercari shipping costs and fees and applicable sales taxes paid for completed orders can be found in the Gross Sales Report. Mercari fees only apply for completed orders. We provide estimated costs for orders in progress, which may also be found in your sales report.
Mercari recommends that you consult your tax advisor about any reportable amounts and associated eligible deductions you may need to report on your tax return. It is solely your responsibility to report amounts and deductions for any fees or charges to sell your items on Mercari.
