FAQ for Internationally Shipped Items

Who is the seller of items from Japan on Mercari US?

All internationally-shipped items will appear as sold by BEENOS. When an item is purchased, the item is sourced from a seller in Japan who then ships the item to the BEENOS warehouse, where BEENOS will take possession of the item and the item will be inspected before being forwarded to the buyer.

What is included in the item and shipping costs?

The item cost includes shipping for the item that has been sourced from the Japanese seller to the BEENOS warehouse, inspection of the item, warehouse handling, and importing the item from Japan to the US. As the item is shipped internationally, shipping costs are higher than domestic orders.

What does BEENOS inspect when the item is received in their Warehouse? What happens if an item is missing or broken?

BEENOS checks that the item is as described in the original listing, and that it matches the item and condition shown in the listing photos. Items that are found to be not as described or prohibited to ship to the United States will be flagged, and the buyer will be refunded in accordance with Mercari’s standard return policy.

What are the conditions of the items sent by Beenos?

Please read the item condition in the item description fully before purchasing. Return request may be rejected if the damages are stated in the item description or item condition.

BEENOS will inspect the item for damage before shipping. If any unstated damage is found, they will issue a refund. Please rest assured that they take great care to ensure the items are intact before shipping.

Which shipping carriers are used for internationally shipped items?

BEENOS uses DHL/FedEx/ECMS International. The shipping method is determined by BEENOS and not the Buyer. Due to customs requirements in the US, the buyer’s email address and phone number will be shared with the carrier.

To reduce the cost of international shipping, ECMS is an international shipping consolidator. BEENOS will ship the item to ECMS warehouse at NRT Tokyo Airport. It will be consolidated with other packages then shipped to LAX where it will be transferred to a domestic shipping carrier. The final delivery will be delivered by one of the domestic carriers, USPS, FedEx or UPS. Average shipping transit time is 10-14 days.

DHL and FedEx may select USPS as a last mile shipping carrier at their discretion.

Is tracking available for items purchased from Japan?

Yes. You will receive an email from DHL or FedEx International with delivery estimates and tracking information.

Is pre-shipment cancellation allowed?

If BEENOS does not receive the item in its warehouse to prepare for international shipment within 12 days, the buyer may request a cancellation. When a buyer requests a pre-shipment cancelation, BEENOS is given a 96 hour window to respond.

Can I return items if I bought them from BEENOS?

Mercari’s standard return policy applies to all internationally purchased items.

What is the estimated time required for international shipping and customs clearance?

Items will be delivered around two weeks from the seller’s shipping date.

Are there any differences between buying from BEENOS vs other sellers in the Mercari marketplace?

The order process for Internationally Shipped items is the same as buying an item from a US seller, with the exception of increased shipping times of around two weeks from the seller’s shipping date due to international shipment from Japan and the need to share the buyer’s email address and phone number with the carrier for customs clearance purposes.

How will I be able to tell if the item I am buying is coming from Japan?

When viewing the item detail page, item origin is listed below the ‘Buy now’ button.

How are item titles and descriptions translated?

Item titles and descriptions are created using an AI translation of the original Japanese description. As such these will generally be accurate however there may be some cases where the AI model produces incorrect or misleading information. If you have any questions, please ask BEENOS via chat.

How are international shipping fees and duties/taxes paid?

The final order amount for BEENOS products includes the international shipping fees and duties/taxes. There is no additional amount to be paid separately.

However, any additional costs incurred due to the buyer's reasons, such as additional domestic shipping fees due to an address change, are not covered.

My order has been shipped but it has not arrived yet. Can I cancel?

Please kindly note that BEENOS only accepts cancellations in post-shipment cases below:

If BEENOS has entered an order tracking number in connection with the order and the order has not been delivered to the Buyer within thirty (30) days after acceptance scan by the shipping carrier and seven (7) days since the last tracking scan. If you shipped your order to an access point and do not pick it up in time, the Buyer will be responsible for the cost of the order unless BEENOS cancels the order.

What happens if I want to change my address?

Please let BEENOS know via chat as soon as possible, if you need to change the delivery address or contact information after payment.

Is it possible to send an offer for items from Japan?

The Offer feature and price negotiation via chat are not available on Internationally Shipped items.

Why did the price of a listing change?

Listing prices may fluctuate due to changes in exchange rates.

Does BEENOS ship on weekends as well?
