Description
Hand-carved wooden elephant mask from the Guro tribe of the Ivory Coast. The mask features a raised trunk, a symbol of good luck and fortune. Excellent vintage condition with no call outs. Guro masquerades from Côte d’Ivoire include Je Dje, where animal spirits embody authority and grace. This mask is carved as a helmet with a domed crown and a pierced skirt for lacing. A long trunk drops, and hardwood tusks project forward. The interior shows handling wear, consistent with carving and use. Its form reflects the Guro aesthetic, balancing stylization with animal power. This mask carries the presence of performance and spirit. Always open to reasonable offers. All sales are final.
