Description
Postcard Fort Sumter National Monument Charleston SC Civil War Model Chrome This vintage chrome-era postcard depicts a detailed architectural diorama model of Fort Sumter National Monument as it appeared when it received the first shot of the Civil War. The three-tiered fort design shows the positions for 135 guns meant to dominate the entrance to the harbor in Charleston, South Carolina. Published by Walter H. Miller and Co., Inc. of Williamsburg, Virginia, the back includes descriptive text from the National Park Service. This unposted souvenir card has a clean divided back without a postmark or printed production date, characteristic of museum items from the 1960s.
