Hiroshima 5th Transport Regiment 五輜広 Set Of 2 Sake Cups

Bottom text reads 五輜広 which is an abbreviation for 第五輜重兵連隊 広島 "5th Transport Regiment - Hiroshima" Text on right reads 召集記念 "Conscription Call-Up Commemoration" The text on the bottom of each of these is the names of the soldiers who were issued them when they were drafted. These cups were issued to men who were drafted into the 5th transport Regiment which was a part of the 5th Division. The 5th Division HQ was destroyed by the atomic bomb on Aug 6 1945. Despite that most of the soldiers in the 5th division were stationed in other parts of the Pacific and so most 5th division soldiers survived the nuclear attack that destroyed their city.
