Homer calls NASA complaining about the boring launch coverage. When NASA officials arrive at Moe's, Homer assumes they're out to arrest him for his prank call - so he blames Barney.
It is revealed that NASA wants to send an "everyday blue collar slob" into space and both Homer and Barney are offered the chance. When a sobered-up Barney beats Homer in every astronaut test, a bottle of champagne is opened to announce Barney's victory - which Barney promptly chugs. He goes crazy and steals a jetpack.
