THE INNER BAND OF GILDING IS SOLID AND THE OUTER RING IS SPONGE GILDING. CHARGER MEASURES 12.75" IN DIAMETER. GOLD IS ALL THERE are NO CHIPS CRACKS OR HAIRLINES.

Vintage China Serving Dish

The discontinued pattern "Courtship" by Johann Haviland, Bavaria Germany is a beautiful delicate pink rose pattern against a white porcelain background with a gold rim creating a simple elegance and is also referred to as pink rose. A more rare pattern over some of the more popular patterns from Johann Haviland. 

The platter is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks or signs of use. A large oval it measures 16 3/4" long x 12.5" wide.


Following in the footsteps of his grandfather David Haviland, Johann Haviland started his own company in Bavaria, Germany in 1907 and went out of business by 1924 and in that same year was sold to Richard Ginori Porcelain of Italy. Eventually the assets were returned to Germany and Rosenthal purchased them in 1933. The people of the United States favored Johann Haviland’s designs because they resembled the elegant Limoges designs for which the Haviland name became popular.  Production continued through 1980.
