BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE LOUIS XV  ELECTRIC MANTLE 12" CLOCK WORKING

The world's first recorded railway station was The Mount on the Oystermouth Railway in Swansea, Wales, which began passenger service in 1807, although the trains were horse drawn rather than by locomotives. The first proper American rail station was built in 1830 by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (Mount Clare station in Baltimore). This nicely scaled table/mantel/desk clock was inspired by the grand era of railway travel which began in the early 1800’s. Most cities in America, including St. Louis, followed Baltimore’s lead by constructing grand stations to celebrate this new mode of transportation and the clocks featured in these stations were no less grand. This version is constructed of sturdy sheet metal with an elegant antiqued painted finish. Measuring a stately height of just under 18” and almost 15” wide, this would make a great gift for a railroad enthusiast or model train collector.

Each piece is on a brass footed base with cherubs and satyrs in patina-ted brass. Accented each piece are brass rooster heads.This piece dates from 1970's.The clock has a quartz movement and runs on a AA battery. Beautiful set
