Payment Processing Fee

Effective March 27, 2024, Mercari will charge Buyers a Payment Processing Fee of $0.50 plus 2.9% of the transaction price (which includes the item price, shipping, service fee and sales tax). In some cases, this fee will not be refunded for returned or canceled orders.

What’s a payment processing fee?

Processing fees are charged by payment service providers to securely process and complete financial transactions at the time of purchase. These fees can range depending on the type of: (1) transaction and (2) payment method used.

It is important to us that our users have competitive and transparent pricing and know exactly what fees are being applied.

As always, there are no listing, monthly, or hidden fees. All cards and payment methods will be charged the same payment processing fee, including American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Venmo, Apple Pay, Zip, and PayPal.

How are payment processing fees applied?

Effective March 27, 2024, a payment processing fee is applied based on the item’s sold price plus shipping fee, service fee and sales tax for the amount paid with Credit/Debit Card, Venmo, PayPal, Zip, or any other third party form of payment. The processing fee is charged at time of checkout and paid by the Buyer.

Is a Payment Processing Fee applied to amounts paid with Balance, Credit and/or Coupon?

No, Mercari does not charge a payment processing fee for amounts paid with either Balance, Credit and/or Coupon. If your order has a zero amount due after you apply your Balance, Credit and/or Coupon, there is no payment processing fee.
