In 2025, Mercari introduced new, lower “Best rate” prices for light, small packages. Best rate applies to packages that are
1 cubic foot or less with a longest side of 22 inches or less.
How to unlock the “Best rate” on your listing
To qualify for the “Best rate” on your listing, select one of the following options during shipping setup:
- Confirm your item is smaller than a shoebox: When prompted, select “Yes” to confirm your package is smaller than a standard shoebox.
- Enter dimensions within carrier limits: If you select “No,” you’ll be asked to provide package dimensions. Best rate will automatically apply if your package is 1 cubic foot or less and its longest side is 22 inches or less.
To update an existing listing, go to your listing and tap Edit. Scroll to the shipping section. If your item is smaller than a shoebox, you’ll unlock access to Best rate shipping.
Standard rate will apply if your package dimensions exceed these limits, or if no dimensions are entered. To avoid additional shipping fees, always provide accurate dimensions.
USPS Media Mail and First Class Envelope have a standard flat price based on actual weight, though dimensions must still be within required limits for each service.
Mercari may suggest shipping weights, including for Best rate. However, it’s your responsibility to confirm accuracy and adjust as needed.
